How we label GUE content

DiveTube puts GUE content first, but it also lists good videos from divers who do things differently. Every video gets one of three labels, shown under "GUE" on its page.

GUE

Made by GUE, by a GUE instructor, or by a GUE project such as Project Baseline. Videos from a GUE instructor's own channel start here unless what's in them clearly contradicts GUE practice.

Matches GUE practice

Not made by GUE, but consistent with how GUE dives: backplate and wing, long-hose primary, standard gases, team diving, good trim and frog kick. You can watch these without having to unlearn anything in class.

Different approach

A different philosophy or practice, such as deep air, solo diving, sidemount-first or non-standard gases. Videos that show unsafe practice get this label too, when divers share them as what not to do. These videos are on DiveTube because divers recommend them, but they never get a GUE label or badge.

The GUE instructor and GUE dive center badges

These badges are stricter than the labels. "GUE instructor" goes only on channels the instructor owns, matched to the public GUE instructor directory and confirmed by hand. "GUE dive center" goes only on a confirmed dive center's own channel. A matching name is never enough. A dive center channel alone doesn't make a video "GUE": its content is judged like any other.

Who decides

Claude (an AI) suggests each label from the video's title, description and what divers said about it, and we check the results. Labels can still be wrong. If you spot one, use "Flag a problem" on the video's page and we'll fix it.

DiveTube isn't affiliated with or endorsed by GUE. These labels are our reading, not GUE's.
