About DiveTube
DiveTube collects the technical diving videos divers keep recommending to each other, with GUE content first. There's no algorithm tuned for watch time and no account.
The idea
DiveTube exists because of Andrej Karpathy, the AI researcher who co-founded OpenAI, led Autopilot AI at Tesla, and has taught a generation of engineers how neural networks work. He built HackerTube, the YouTube videos Hacker News keeps telling each other to watch, and shared how he made it: let a community's own recommendations pick the videos, not an algorithm tuned for watch time. DiveTube borrows that idea and framework for divers. Thank you, Andrej. More of his work is at karpathy.ai.
How videos get in
We read the full history of Reddit's diving communities for YouTube links. Claude labeled each link: a recommendation, a citation, a warning, or a joke. A video makes the cut when at least two different divers recommended it in at least two different months. Videos from the channels of current GUE instructors, their dive centers and a few respected sources also get in when viewers like them.
Each video page shows what divers actually said, with links back to the original threads.
